“I and the Father are one”, what does that mean?

This verse in John 10:30 “I and the Father are one” has been a bone of contention among religious leaders. This has been used as one of the bases for the Trinitarian concept of the “godhead”. To understand this quote one has to read chapter John 10:24-40 regarding the narrative.

From the context of this narrative, the following become clear:

1. The verse does not mean that Jesus and the Father are equal since the “Father is greater than all”.

Also, it does not mean that they have “oneness of power or essence/substance” as other commentators teach. Remember that when Jesus spoke those words, he was still on earth as a man/anthropos, flesh-composed unlike the Father who is spirit-composed, although man-Jesus was an incarnation of Creator YHVH-Elohim or Lord God. Similarly, it does not mean that the Father and man/anthropos-Jesus have the same knowledge of the future, as saith Jesus in Mark 13:32, “that day and that hour, there is knoweth, not the angels, nor the Son, but the Father only”. Man-Jesus did not have that knowledge as the Father

2. To the Jews of that time, the verse meant to them that he, being man, was “like the Father, is also “god”. That seemed to them to be blasphemy, so they picked up stones. Their reason is here given in express words, “because that Thou, being a man, makest thyself God” (John 10:33). While only God the Father should be worshipped, to the Jews of his time, they cannot believe that Jesus also defined “man as god“,(although not to be worshipped). Similarly, in the verse “Before Abraham was born, I am” the Jews again picked up stones to stone him, as they knew patriarch Abraham was older than him. Yet, Jesus defined man as “god”. What is “god”? is a question that has been explained in another post.

3. Rather, the verse to be “one“, clearly meant by Jesus to be about him, having been given the Holy Spirit by the Father at River Jordan, as in Matthew 3:16. This is the empowering spirit that made him “one” with the Father and from then on, miraculous works of man-Jesus came about(and not before). Notice verse John 10:38 “But if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.”

Summary

John 10:30 has been used to mean anything but the truth to explain it, but unfortunately, with misinformation. It has also been a foundational teaching to Trinity that has been deconstructed. But, the Holy Spirit guides us to the truth as in John 16:13,

Truly, the presence of the Holy Spirit in Jesus made him “one with the Father as we will be “one” with the Father and his Son-Jesus with the Holy Spirit “in us“. This is the energy/power that will empower us to fulfill the goal in “oneness doctrine“.

Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith. He is the pioneer/trailblazer towards our salvation from eternal death. And because of him and through him, we will be “one”. As the prophecy in Genesis 2:24 that we “shall be one flesh” , this time with the “ongoing creation” by the Holy Spirit, we “shall be one Spirit”.

God bless🙏😇

Climate Change and the “end of the world”?

Nary a day goes by without being forewarned of coastal inundation by rising seas due to “global warming“. The prospect of global deluge and conflagration leading to “end of the world” is indeed very scary, not only for adults but also for the young generation.

This was highlighted by Greta Thunberg, a schoolgirl climate change warrior with Asperger’s syndrome from Sweden, in her address to the United Nations. Since 2004, so-called “scientists” were pressuring Pres. Bush through the Pentagon to declare an extreme proclamation that “global warming/climate change” is a national security.

Climate Science

The “basics, evidence, impacts and solutions” of climate science have been written and “eventually, entire regions (will) become uninhabitable“, an end-time scenario.

There is 97% consensus on global warming which is overwhelming. But “Only 16% of Americans realize that the consensus is above 90%”

While there are “31,000 scientists (that) say no convincing evidence” to this prediction, this number is questioned by “believers“.

Taking an opposing side, a former NASA scientist, Dr Leslie Woodcock, “laughed off man-made climate change as nonsense and a money-making industry for the green lobby, which approaches the subject with a religious fervor.

Similarly, Dr Mark Imisides, an industrial chemist, logically claimed that carbon dioxide can’t cause global warming. He posits that human influence on our climate, “even if we really tried, is miniscule. He continued:”The problem gets even stickier when you consider the size of the ocean. Basically, there is too much water and not enough air.The ocean contains a colossal 1,500,000,000,000,000,000,000 (1.5 septillion) litres of water! To heat it, even by a small amount, takes a staggering amount of energy. To heat it by a mere 1˚C, for example, an astonishing 6,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 (6 septillion) joules of energy are required. To put this amount of energy in perspective: If we all turned off all our appliances and went and lived in caves, and then devoted every coal, nuclear, gas, hydro, wind and solar power plant to just heating the ocean, it would take a breathtaking 32,000 years to heat the ocean by just this 1˚C!” He theorized that the reason for change in climate is the same as that for season changes, i.e., the earth’s tilt towards the sun.

Dr Roy Spencer(former NASA scientist) and Lord Christopher Monckton, 3rd Viscount Monckton of Brenchley, mocked (no pun intended) this global warming hoax.

The controversy of climate change (global warming) is summarized in a nutshell by Dr James Lovelock, who quipped It’s just as silly to be a denier as it is to be a believer. You can’t be certain”.

Where do we go from here?

Not a “denier or believer”, it may well be that the issue is not on the controversial validity of “climate science” championed by those scientists for global warming or those against it? The “root cause” maybe more deep rooted for years. It may well be “religious, not secular” and may properly segue to “who to believe?

It was not long ago, in the 1950’s and 1960’s when there was widespread fear of population explosion and catastrophic events would happen because of the “prophesy/prediction emblazoned in a best-selling book “Population Bomb” written by Stanford University Professor Paul Erlich and his wife Anne in 1968. It predicted worldwide famine in the 1970s and 1980s due to overpopulation, as well as other major societal upheavals, and advocated immediate action to limit population growth“. Many believed that and responses were China’s one-child policy and India’s two-child policy for population control. Many families in other countries, on their own volition, adopted what was euphemistically called family planning which became a “gateway to abortion and what has become a step towards infanticide. Innovation and technological advances made a mockery of this Malthusian theory.

On a personal note, there was a senior medical student that I met in New York, who decided not to finish medical school because of 1975 in Prophecy written by Herbert W. Armstrong of the Worldwide Church of God. His argument and justification for his action was, “Why finish medical school when the world will end soon?” Hopefully, no one will jump into that mindset. The year quickly went by and we were still around. Indeed, an interpretation of Biblical events but still a human prediction, nevertheless.

Upping the ante, so to speak as the Bible has a different take on the future, should people believe humans or God? Could this be a continuing debate between “atheists and theist”? Is “global warming” another in a litany of “doom-and-gloom scenario” that may find itself in the dustbin of history? Will there really be another “global deluge” and earth’s inundation, this time from melting polar caps due to carbon dioxide greenhouse effect? In contrast, what did God promise mankind?

Noah’s flood

To understand this dilemma, one has to go back to the narrative of Noah’s flood. Didn’t God promise and, even with a rainbow sign, that there will be no more deluge on earth? Yet, are people rejecting this by subscribing to “climate change hoax? Not really on that basis, according to some religious pundits who believe in “global warming” and advanced the argument that Noah’s flood was entirely about a promise not to have “rain” as a cause of earth’s inundation. Was God’s promise really about the cause or not to have global flood, per se, irrespective of cause?

To analyze this proposition by religious experts, let us go back to the Bible’s narrative of Noah’s flood in Genesis. The following are clear:

1. The flood was a punishment for human wickedness, evil mind and corruption that filled the earth with violence, as in:

Genesis 6:5-7 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the faceof the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

Genesis 6:11-13 Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence. God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways. So God said to Noah, “I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth.

2. This destruction would be for all life on earth, except Noah and his family, as well as representative living creatures:

Genesis 6:8 “But Noah found grace/favor in the eyes of the LORD.

Genesis 6:17-22 “..,to destroy all life under the heavens, every creature that has the breath of life in it. Everything on earth will perish. But I will establish my covenant with you,and you will enter the ark—you and your sons and your wife and your sons’ wives with you. You are to bring into the ark two of all living creatures, male and female, to keep them alive with you.Two of every kind of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that moves along the ground will come to you to be kept alive. You are to take every kind of food that is to be eaten and store it away as food for you and for them.”Noah did everything just as God commanded him.

3. The punishment was: “floodwaters” as in:

Genesis 6:17 I am going to bring floodwaters on the earth…” NOTE: the warning of punishment was about “floodwaters” and

4. The means utilized were “rain” for 40 days and forty nights andfountains of the great deep broken up” to bring this on, as in;

Genesis 7:4 For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.

Genesis 7:10-12 And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth. In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.

5. Here is the promise:waters of a flood

Genesis 8:21 And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake; for the imaginationof man’s heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.“(meaning with floodwaters).

Genesis 9:11 “And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.

From the preceding verses, one can clearly see that God’s promise was to refrain from using “global floodwaters” to punish humanity as a whole. A rainbow became a sign/token that sealed this covenant as in Genesis 9:12-17. This rainbow then served as a sign, not just for global floodwaters coming from rain but from any source (whether by melting of polar caps from global warming or not) of future deluge or water inundation.

Summary

Whether a “denier or a believer in climate change”, what is more important is the action one takes for the environment. There is nothing wrong with keeping our surroundings clean as we keep our homes “spic-and-span”. That is just “common sense”. Disposing garbage appropriately, recycling and other measures to keep our environment clean and sustainable are salutary responses. But, to stoke fear of global inundation and as a mandated governmental, or worse, global policy, that then extends to extremism. People have to guard themselves from “false prophets of doom”.

Opponents of “climate science” may just be an expression of extremism from both sides of this divide, that requires suspension of disbelief. People can be “believers or deniersof global warming/climate change. But, this issue may not be secular in nature after all. It may have roots as to who to believe: human prediction or God’s covenant with humanity. His promise will not be broken and any teaching of “global flood resulting from global warming” is antithetical to God’s ability to fulfill his promise since Noah’s flood.

Herein is the choice: fear human prediction or fear of God and have assurance that what God promised, he will definitely deliver.

Hopefully and prayerfully, we will have wisdom to discern truth from fiction. Let us therefore fear God because “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

Quoting Mark Twain: “Truth is stranger than fiction, but it is because Fiction is obliged to stick to possibilities; Truth isn’t”.

Floodwaters, deluge or water inundation of earth from “global warming” leading to “melting of ice on earth” is a delusion. God promised no more “global floodwatersas punishment for humanity, as a whole. The future punishment is in fact lake of fire“(Gehenna fire). Revelations 20:14-15.

God bless 🙏😇

Holy Spirit as a Person, why it is Not…the bottom line?

Historically, and for generations ago, the Holy Spirit has been taught to be the “3rd person in the Godhead“. The teaching of the three Cappadocian theologians “made it possible for the Council of Constantinople (381) to affirm the divinity of the Holy Spirit, which up to that point had nowhere been clearly stated, not even in Scripture”( The  HarperCollins Encyclopedia of Catholicism, “God,” p. 568).See also:

The trinity doctrine is the belief that God is three persons coexisting in one being or substance, as the doctrine is often defined, is held by millions of Catholics, Protestants and Orthodox believers alike.

Yet, UCG teaches that the Holy Spirit is “power” and not a distinct person. “To say the least, these depictions are difficult to understand if the Holy Spirit is a person

Bottom Line:

While the Holy Spirit is “energy/power” that emanates from the Father, what it does is more poignant. Indeed it is a “life-giving power”. It is the power that is transformative in developing a God-kingdom. It’s in-dwelling in the “mind/spirit-of-man” guides the person to develop wisdom in choosing what is right or wrong, a period of sanctification, to be “one” with the Father. And by resurrection from the dead, in a “twinkling of an eye”, we will be “declared sons/daughters of God.

Being a “son” and member of the body of Christ is “by adoption of humans”. First human, as prophesied to be “adopted into the God Kingdom”, is the trailblazer, author of our salvation, man-Jesus Christ. And he showed us the “way, the truth and life” to be adopted , as well.

Why was the offering of Abel respected and that of Cain was not ?

It boggles the mind why this happened. Both of them gave their very best, yet one wasrespected” and the other, not, why? Here is the narrative:

Genesis 4:3-5And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord. And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering:But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell”

It appears that the tradition of offering to the Lord was already established at that time. And they gave what they deemed to be the best. However, the text says that one was respected and the other was not. First off, what does “respected” in the original Hebrew mean? The root word comes from sha`ah also meaning bewildered or dismayed. From the context, the offering of Cain was not “respected” while that of Abel was. But, why? What could be the reason?

Possible Reasons

Many have written possible reasons/explanations of this narrative. It is a fact that God commanded the children of Israel at the time of their harvests to present the first fruits of their wheat, barley, olives, and the like to the Lord, and said in Numbers 18:12-13, that the best of these things which the children of Israel offered to the Lord was to be given to the priests as their portion”. So it would appear that up to that point the offering itself was not the problem.” The offering itself was not the problem, really?

Another reason given was based on I John 3:12, speaks of Cain as that wicked one and his works were evil. “We must not be like Cain, who belonged to the evil one and killed his brother. And why did he kill him? Because Cain had been doing what was evil, and his brother had been doing what was righteous.(NLT). Here, the text appears to suggest that Cain, being an “evil one”, for what he “had been doing” can not be respected.

Three things emerge from this narrative;

1. The character description of who and what was the person giving the offering. It says: Cain had “been doing evil things” while Abel was doing what was righteous“. The person has to be perfect.

2. The origin of the offering itself. It says: Cain offered the fruit “from the ground“, earthy, while Abel offered firstling of the flock“(firstborn). It has to come from other than ground/earth. The “flockdid not come from “the ground” and had to be “firstling.

3. Who decides on defining 1 and 2. Only God is the decision-maker about what he “respects” and “like”.

What message was God sending?

Consider the following:

God didn’t like “fruit of the ground“. He didn’t like the fruit from “the earth“,(lifeless) which is related to “hades” or death. Instead, God chose living-representation as in “firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof” coming from living progenitor. This presaged the future “Passover Lamb“, the firstborn among many brethren and the “fruit from above/heavenly”. This is the only true offering” that the Father planned for mankind for reconciliation of all humanity.

Meaning, YHVH/Jesus has to start the process of salvation with his incarnation, receive in-dwelling of Holy Spirit at River Jordan, develop “fruits of the Holy Spirit of power”, die at Calvary for reconciliation of humanity because of Adam’s sin. That, before anyone of us bears fruit of the Holy Spirit, this has to be given first to Jesus after his resurrection then through the in-dwelling in us of this “spirit-power”, Jesus will be “with and abide/abide with us by through the Holy Spirit in us”.

This in-dwelling of the Holy Spirit in us develops us to be “one” with the Father as man-Jesus became the first human to be “one” with him.

Summary

Before the beginning of time, there was already a planned offering to the Father for reconciliation of mankind; this was an unwritten covenant between the Father and Son. The narrative of Abel and Cain is futuristic. It is an expression of that plan for which the “offering of Abel was respected and Cain’s was not”. However, Abel’s offering was only a “type” and the “anti/type” was still generations later. God the Father is the decision-maker as to what, when, how, where and who that actual offering would be.

There is no better offering, a “sweet savor” to the Father but an incarnated YHVH/Creator, the man-Jesus, the one perfect person/human who would give his life for mankind to pay for the consequence (death) of the sin of one man, Adam (Romans 5:12-21). However, while his death achieved gift of reconciliation for humanity, man-Jesus’ “fruits of the spirit” gained him reward of resurrection into eternal life to then receive the gift of Holy Spirit of power as promised to be bestowed to us for “ongoing creation“.

Ultimate Covenant:First and Unwritten?

A covenant is a promise for one to do to another. It maybe conditional or unconditional, unilateral or bilateral; unidirectional or reciprocal. It can be between God and man or another like earth, as in Genesis 9:13. Covenants have been made since the beginning of man’s life on earth. But, was there a “covenant” before man’s creation?

Genesis Adam

The proximate Creator God, the El Shaddai/YHVH-Elohim/LOGOS promised, as planned, to make man “in our image, after our likeness” and so He did without any precondition, (Genesis 2:26-27). And, this was only a start for man in his destiny as the promise to have “dominion… over every creeping thing…on earth” (like disease-causing organism) which has not yet been achieved because it requires immortal bodies. As originally made , man was a “created template” that projects the promise into the future of in-dwelling of the Holy Spirit in his ongoing creation of His body, the church.

Covenant at time of Noah and on

While Noah followed the direction of God in building the ark, he was still a sinner (Romans 5:12-21) deserving death but he, and representative animals found grace to live without precondition, as in:

Genesis 6:5-8 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.

Genesis 6:12-13 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth”.

With Noah, Genesis 9:11 states God’s promise:

I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth“.

Instead of all life ending, some were saved based on grace. And, God decides who will be saved, when and how. This has no pre-condition and there is a sign/proof of covenant as in:Genesis 9:13,

I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.

Promised and covenanted preceded all

On reviewing verses with covenants, one sees the promise for one to do to another can be conditional, unconditional or general; unilateral or bilateral; unidirectional or reciprocal.

Moreover, for completion, these promises/covenants are prospective and ultimately referred towards one human, “the seed“, as in

Galatians 3:16The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. Scripture does not say “and to seeds,” meaning many people, but “and to your seed,” meaning one person, who is Christ.“(NIV).

More importantly, as the covenants are prospective to man-Jesus(anthropos-Jesus), it retrospectively reverts to the same person with many descriptive names like Creator-God/El-Shaddai(Almighty God)/YHVH-Elohim(Lord God)/LOGOS, “before the beginning of time” as in:

2 Timothy 1:9-10He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.

Unwritten covenant between Father and Logos and How of salvation

While all covenants were between God and man(or earth), the “first unwritten covenant” was between the Father and Sonbefore the beginning of time. Consider this:

2 Timothy 1:9He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time,”

The preceding verse tells us that our salvation was not because of our “own works” (we were still sinners) but was purposely planned and by the grace of the Father. And, this “grace was given us, in Christ Jesus”, meaning because and through him. Moreover, this was and made it, an unwritten covenant between the Father and LOGOS(Jesus) “before the beginning of time“. Yes, before Genesis, prior to you and me, or anything else, were created,i.e., before sun, moon and stars (the universe). Yes, unwritten but covenanted and assured, nevertheless.

That said, the actual meaning/interpretation, the good news/gospel, was not revealed prior to Paul’s ministry until after Jesus was resurrected to life as proof of the Father delivering what was promised;

2 Timothy 1:10 but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.”

Salvation, a sine qua non to immortality, is the goal in the creation of the God-Kingdom. But, how did we get saved? And when did we get saved? Were we saved at the time when it was promised? And, when was this promised? Was it conditional or unconditional ? Was it written or unwritten? These are questions that eluded many prior to, but revealed through the ministry of Paul, whose knowledge was by the teaching of Jesus through the Holy Spirit in-dwelling in him.

As important as our faith (in) him is, of and by itself, it is nothing without the faith (of) Jesus in the Father. The Father has to promise, before faith is summoned in his ability to fulfill what was promised. Jesus’ faith in the Father started and initiated all that has been subsequently promised. His faith in the Father is absolute, having been the only one who was with him even before creation (John 1:1-3).

This is the faith-to-faith principle as in: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. – Romans 1:16-17

The so-called “father of the faithful” is Abraham (Gal. 3:6-8) as we are the children of Abraham. But, the faith of Abraham was in El Shadddai, YHVH Elohim, Jesus the Creator, the God that he knew, to deliver his promises. But before Abraham’s faith, his Creator/Jesus also has faith in the Father who no one has seen (but Jesus). Jesus’ faith preceded anyone’ faith. So from the faith originally (of) Jesus/Creator in his Father, it transcended from YHVH ELOHIM’s promise to Abraham and to others. Indeed, from faith to faith.

This faith (of) Jesus is based on a covenant. As there were covenants between Abraham and God, Israel and God, new Israel and God, all of these covenants were preceded by the unwritten covenant way before creation, between YHVH ELOHIM/Jesus and God the Father.

But, what was covenantly promised by the Father to Jesus, even before the creation of the worlds? This promise was not preached as a specific unwritten covenant and has not been understood as such until this time, in this generation. This covenant, way before all other covenants that followed, essentially is for:

1. YHVH ELOHIM to die (Rev. 13:8) as incarnate Jesus, as payment in full for the sins of YHVH’s creation(imputed to first Adam), to reconcile us to the Father.

2. In return, the Father would resurrect Jesus to receive the promise of the Spirit to dwell in the “fleshly tables” of our heart. not in “stony heart” . This will then transform us into the “body of Christ” as an eternal salvation, and be “higher than angels“(Heb.2:5-18). The Father is creating not a plant- kingdom, not an animal-kingdom and not even a human-kingdom, but a “God-kingdom”, all spiritually composed.

Historically and futuristically, all human kingdoms will be destroyed. There will be a fulfillment of the “dream of Nebuchadnezzar” (Daniel 2). It will no longer be “an image/template“, but a God-kingdom, a “new creation” within the “body/church of Christ“.

Jesus’ faith is in the Father whose promise is for mankind to be “in the body of Christ“. This will be fulfilled. His faith in the Father is on solid grounds, as our faith in Jesus is.

Summary

The unwritten covenant that trumps and preceded all covenants is between the Father and Jesus before the beginning of time. This was then re-promised by El Shaddai ( Almighty God) to Adam, Noah, Abraham and others. This is UNconditional as we were not yet in existence and definitive because he is assured that the Father will keep his promise that is faith-based on grace and love of God.

God bless 🙏😇

Equip, What, When and How?

In any organization, the leader has to be well-equipped, as well as the members to achieve the goal they are purposely meant to be. Each member has to be similarly equipped with “mind and actionable power“. With empowerment of the “team“, together everyone achieves more.

Team and group dynamics are essential. This principle is basic if anyone seeks and expects to reach success. What we learned as key to success in the secular world is a predicate to what is primordial also in the “spirit-realm“. An “equip student-seminar 2017″ highlights the importance of being “equipped”.

What to be equipped with?

What to be equipped with, depends upon the goal. In the narrative between Nicodemus and Jesus , undoubtedly, the goal after humans are “born of water” (after having been born into this world) is to be “born of the spirit”, is the creation of a “God-kingdom” from our human anatomy. And, this key ingredient has to be a Helper, aka Holy Spirit, in-dwelling in us to empower our “weak” though perfectly-made composition(Genesis 1:31). We need this empowerment to help our “willing spirit/mind to overcome our weak flesh“(Matthew 26:41) to do God’s will, as Jesus did in Luke 22:42 and as advised for -us in:

Hebrews 13:21 equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.(NIV).

Notice that it is through Jesus Christ who got this Holy Spirit/Helper/Advocate/Comforter only after his death and resurrection as in John 16:7ESV. And with that power, he now is giving the Holy Spirit of empowerment to whomever he will, as a gift, at their particular time of “calling” to be readied for “harvests“.

When and How equipped?

As already indicated at the outset, the leader has to be equipped first. In human history, all humans failed as a leader until the prophesied true human leader came into being by the process of incarnation of the EL SHADDAI/YHVH Elohim I AM/Creator God/Logos; see Exodus 6:3; Exodus 3:13-14; John 1:1. He was the first human equipped with in-dwelling gift of the Holy Spirit of power directly from the origin, the Father, at River Jordan as in John 1:32

Then John gave this testimony: “I saw the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on him.

From then on, this power was first manifested by overcoming the “god of this world/age”, aka Satan, then followed the miracle in the wedding in Cana turning water into wine. There was no proof in the Bible of miraculous power done by Jesus prior to those events, whether in infancy, childhood or adulthood.

But, then, it took his resurrection and for him to be alive to receive this Holy Spirit from God to give as a gift to mankind. He could not receive this at death. His death brought reconciliation of mankind with the Father. As the Creator God, Jesus breathe into Adam’s nostrils the life-giving but temporary breath-of-life. Conversely, his resurrected life will bring to mankind an eternal life-giving power. Temporary in the sense that even with that life-giving power given in Genesis by the Creator God, we still die; in contrast, this life-giving power from the Holy Spirit that was received by resurrected Jesus from the Father is for our immortality. With that power, he could then give it as a gift to whomever he planned as “called” in preparation for “spring and fall harvests”. Pentecost was the first time in-dwelling occurred to other human beings.

How this Holy Spirit became available was through a process that started with a covenant between the Father and EL Shaddai/YHVH Elohim/Logos which entails a creation of a God-kingdom. For the Creator-God(Jesus) to do this , he had to create an “image or template” of God (Genesis 1:26), the creation of man(Genesis 2:7). But, while Adam was created perfectly, he was still “weak” to overcome evil, like temptation from Serpent/Satan, and sinned despite God’s admonition againsteating the fruit”. Being a sinner, he will suffer “eternal/irreversible death”, for which a Passover Lamb Christ had to be sacrificed for reconciliation with the Father. And for that to happen, the Creator God had to incarnate, grow and develop to maturity before receiving to himself the promised in-dwelling of the Holy Spirit at River Jordan. With his crucifixion and death that paid for mankind’s sin accounted to Adam’s sin, he was then resurrected (as promised to this human trailblazer) to achieve the reward of immortality and receive the gift of Holy Spirit for others paving the way for their salvation/immortality.

This Holy Spirit becomes figuratively the “spiritual sperm DNA” that “fertilizes” the “spirit-egg DNA, aka our mind”, to become a “spiritual zygote“. This is a “token/deposit” that establishes the “seal as adopted child of God” that will guide, nourish, develop to maturity and will “declared/appointed/manifest as “born again” at time of resurrection. The process by which the Holy Spirit in-dwells in us is through Jesus giving to whomever the Father called towards Jesus.

Summary

As a predicate to spiritual, secular success depends on equipping. The first to be equipped with the Holy Spirit of power was man/anthropos Jesus, our leader, captain/author of our salvation, the trailblazer, the author and finisher of our faith. This power in-dwelled in him at River Jordan. It was a “Helper” to his “weak” human composition that he used to overcome Satan and to show miracles to his disciples at that time. He then died for our reconciliation and after resurrection received the Holy Spirit of power to be given to us to strengthen our “human weakness“. Having been equipped by the in-dwelling of the Holy Spirit, what we do with or how we use this empowerment will determine whether we will continue to grow and mature.

For those who were given the privilege to partake in the “first/spring harvest“, those who were called to receive the Holy Spirit to partake in the “first resurrection, take heed not to “quench the Holy Spirit” (1 Thessalonians 5:19) or “grieve the Holy Spirit” (Ephesians 4:30). Worse if we return to our “vomit“, as in: 2 Peter 2:22

“Of them the proverbs are true: “A dog returns to its vomit,” and, “A sow that is washed returns to her wallowing in the mud.”

Any tree has to be planted, fertilized, taken cared for, prior to growth/development and bear fruits. Same with those “seeded” and “sealed/deposited” with the power of the Holy Spirit.

Let us therefore be empowered by the Holy Spirit, use it as in:

Galatians 5:16.”So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.”

Moreover, bear fruits, as in Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”

Remember:

John 15:2He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful

Matthew 7:19Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.”

Why was Man created “flesh-composed and weak”?

What is wrong with humans? In all human history, there is good and evil done by humans, not only to others but practically everything else. Governments rise and fall, wars and rumors of war all throughout memories written or not. Certainly, there are progress, advancements, peace and prosperity. A good man can become bad and an evil man can become good, as we define good/evil. Why is there no consistency in goodness and in eschewing evil?

Man has Creator and Composition

For anyone to understand why human history is what it is, one has to go back to man’s origin and composition. From Genesis creation, after non-living and inanimate elements were created, a perfect God created living and animate things. Lastly, his supreme creation was a human being (Genesis 1:27-31). A Creator made man; no evolution in how he/she got to be.

Notice, though, man’s composition in Genesis 2:7 Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.“(NIV)

The matter/flesh-composition of man came from the non-living “dust/aphar” of the ground, earthy. The other component, “breath/nshamah” of life” was “breathed ” into his nostrils and he became a “living being/nephesh”. Without that “breath of life”, man was dead. This “breath of life” came directly from a living Spirit-Being, the Creator, and therefore heavenly. This breath-of-life is otherwise known as “spirit/of-man or mind” as in:

Job 32:8 “But it is the spirit in a person, the breath of the Almighty, that gives them understanding”.

So man is composed of “aphar” + “nshamah“= “nephesh“.

From dead to life, in the same way that humans futuristically will be resurrected to life. But notice the capability of these 2 components, as in Matthew 26:41

Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.(NIV)

These components differ in function, i.e., the “mind“is to will, analyze and decide; the “flesh” is to execute and act; the mind has to act through the flesh. Aside from this, both can actually be pulling each other in different direction or be in conflict as in;

Galatians 5:17For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want(NIV).

Meaning, that while the mind may decide one way, the needs of the flesh, i.e., hunger, pain, self-interest for self-preservation, etc., may overtake and oppose initial/gut response of the mind, but the mind changed direction depending on what justifies that decision. How often do you see people whose mind says it is wrong to kill or steal or cheat but did that anyway because of “lust of the flesh” (Romans 13:14;Romans 7:18)

Man as created needs a Helper/Advocate

Without question, God from the beginning wanted us to follow him. From the 1st Adam until the last/2nd Adam, we were advised, guided to follow him, his Commandments and his direction. But, history shows we all failed. We all did until the “trailblazer/archegos” the captain/author of our salvation came to earth (Hebrews 2:10) and showed us the “way, truth and the life“(John 14:6). God was not wrong in telling us to follow his commandments; that was his plan and desire. The problem was us being created temporarily incomplete, a mere image/template, being weak and needs a “Helper“, as planned.

As Jeremiah 18:1-4 , Isaiah 29:16; Isaiah 64:8 ; Job 4:18-19; Romans 9:19-21 say, our Creator has a plan for this temporary creation to be reworked or remade and we should not question his plan.

All of what happened to humanity centers on what the Creator planned to do after his incarnation through the man/anthropos Jesus (Timothy 2:5). There is an “ongoing creation“.

Made weak on “hope“:

Because God is perfect, it is difficult to accept this proposition that we were created imperfect, weak, incomplete, temporary, an image and a template. But that is exactly a perfect creation as it was and became “marred clay” for a purpose. It centers on Jesus as the “hope of mankind“. Notice the following:

Romans 8:20For the creature was made subject to vanity(frailty-depravity), not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope

Jeremiah 17:7 Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, and whose hope is the LORD:

Romans 15:4 ESVFor whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.”

Jeremiah 29:11For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Yes, we were created as such (spirit willing but flesh is weak) and subject to weakness by reason of him ” who subjected the same in hope”. And this, to direct us and look forward to the only man who was planned from the foundation of the world…our “hope IS THE LORD” (Jesus).

Jesus is the trailblazer, captain author (archegos) of our faith towards salvation/immortal life, the carpenter/builder. He is our “hope of eternal life” as in Titus 1:2

In hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began.

The Father promised to El Shaddai/YHVH/LOGOS before incarnating into man-Jesus that when he takes on the role of the Passover for mankind, that he would receive the reward of the Holy Spirit to be given to him and subsequently give it to us as a gift to empower us. His hope, trust in the Father was on faith in the Father and is evidence-based.

With this hope, let us do our part by “walking and following” the guidance of the Holy Spirit. 1 John 3:3And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure”.

Any tree has to be planted, fertilized, taken cared for, prior to growth/development and bear fruits. Same with those “seeded” and “sealed/deposited” with the power of the Holy Spirit.

The gifted Holy Spirit will empower us, so that this hope of eternal life will see fruition.

Summary

We were created perfect by God as we were composed from the ground + breath/of-life. Still, as perfectly-made we were, our history shows how incomplete and “weak” we are on our “own power“. We were formed as an “image/template” of our Creator. We need to be empowered out of our “weakness” by the in-dwelling of the Holy Spirit which we will receive only from Jesus.

It took the incarnation of EL Shaddai/YHVH ELOHIM/LOGOS/ Creator God into man-Jesus to remake the “marred clay” using the empowerment of the Holy Spirit which he was gifted/received for himself at River Jordan to overcome Satan, to do miracles and to subsequently be given for us only after his resurrection.

Let us then heed the advice in Hebrews 5:16:

So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh

With this in-dwelling in us of the Holy Spirit, hopefully we will follow it’s guidance and bear the “fruits of the Holy Spirit”. These comprise the righteous acts that God required us to be “one with him” as “all our (personal” righteous acts are as filthy rags”.

Be mindful that as we are guided through the agency of the Holy Spirit, that it “ is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.”

This action of ours is strictly speaking, merely a consent from us to follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit, whose actions are “fruits of the Holy Spirit“.

God bless 🙏😇👍😊

Wedding in Cana, First Miracle or What and Why?

It is commonly taught that the first miracle of Jesus was turning water into wine. Actually, going through the events that followed the in-dwelling of the Holy Spirit in him, he “went straight way” (Matthew 3:16-17; Matthew 4:1) out of the water, empowered by the Holy Spirit to overcome Satan in the wilderness. That was the first miracle to subdue the “god of this world/age”. It was only after this that the narrative surrounding the wedding in Cana took place. So, rightly put, the water-to-wine miracle was “first of the signs through which he revealed his glory” (John 2:11) to the disciples who then believed in him, and not the actual first miracle.

Moreover, observationally, one sees that in the life of Jesus, prior to this in-dwelling, there was no miracle recorded, suggesting exactly that. There was no miracle at all performed by man/anthropos-Jesus as the Holy Spirit was not given yet to him. One can therefore discredit the claims of others about”miracles” performed by Jesus as a child.

With that said, let us now visit the wedding in Cana which was was narrated in John 2:1-11,

On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.” “Woman, why do you involve me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.” His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons. Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.”They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.” What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.”

Consider John 2:4Woman,why do you involve me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come Here, Jesus was questioning his mother Mary why involve him now and answered himself to emphasize that his “hour has not yet come”. What was that hour that has not come yet? It has to do with water and wine, but what?

Also, John 2:10Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now Here, Jesus was referring to himself bringing out the “best wine after guests had too much to drink.Regarding wine, it had to be precious and the best.

Symbols of water and wine?

With that laid out as a preliminary, one can see the connection between water and wine.

The principle of Isaiah 28:10 applies as in:

“For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

Regarding “water” as a symbol and used in a figurative sense referring to the Holy Spirit, consider the following verses:

John 3:5 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.”

There is a difference between “born of water” from the womb into flesh-composed human beings and born of the Spirit which is spirit-composed.

John 4:13-14 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

John 7:37-39 On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.

Clearly, water represents the “Holy Spirit.

Regarding “wine” as a symbol and used in a figurative sense referring to the “blood” of Jesus, consider the following verse:

Matthew 26:28
“For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Blood has to be shed first as a consequence of mankind’s sin for remission and reconciliation with the Father. This death of Christ is key before the Helper/Advocate will be given by the Father to Jesus, then subsequently to us.

Why turn water into wine?

The key to answer this question lies in:

John 3:5 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.”

As the preceding verse intimated to us, this is about the process of how to “enter the kingdom of God”, i.e., the ultimate creation of the God-kingdom from human anatomy. What is planned to be created is not a plant-kingdom, animal-kingdom or even a human-kingdom that is destined to end and replaced as prophesied in Daniel 2.

As everyone understands, first, we have to be “born of water, i.e., from the womb of our mother filled with amniotic fluid/water for protection, growth and development. Thereafter comes being “born of Spirit”. Jesus was “turning what was born of water into “born of Spirit. But, for humans to be born of Spirit, the Holy Spirit of adoption has to in-dwell in the person as a Helper/Advocate for nourishment, guidance, protection, growth and development.

The timing for this in-dwelling was “not yet” until the crucifixion. Jesus has to die first before we can be considered “crucified/died with Christ”. Blood has to be spilled first for Jesus to die and receive (John 16:7) the Holy Spirit from the Father to empower our “weak flesh. Water baptism signifies death and Spirit-in dwelling is spiritual baptism towards life. It is not the symbolic waters of baptism that cleanse and reconcile us to the Father but Christ’s blood (Hebrews 9:22) and the thereafter receipt of God’s Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit, symbolized by water, has cleansing power; it quenches a person’s spiritual thirst, cleanses him from his spiritual filth and facilitates his spiritual birth, a stage of being “born again”.

Summary

“My hour has not yet come refers to the time of his death. “Turning water into wine” suggests that after man has been “born of water” from the mother’s womb, there is a process to be “born again through the Holy Spirit”. That process requires, water to turn to wine as in “blood of Christ as a Passover” sacrifice and payment for the sin of one man imputed to all mankind. That “wine” was the best and given only at a particular end-time and people. This then reconciles man to the Father for him to give the reward of the Holy Spirit to Jesus who will then give the gift of the Holy Spirit to us. Through the Holy Spirit in-dwelling in us, we received and were sealed with the Spirit of Adoption, and empowered us to have the Ten Commandments “written not in tables of stones but in the fleshy tables of our heart” as a “new covenant” with spirit-commandments to bear the “fruits of the Holy Spirit“. As what was written in tables of stone had commandments so does the one written in fleshy tables of our heart to follow. The difference between these covenants is the empowerment through the Holy Spirit which was not in-dwelling previously.

For those who were given the privilege to partake in the “first/spring harvest“, those who were called to receive the Holy Spirit to partake in the “first resurrection, take heed not to “quench the Holy Spirit(1 Thessalonians 5:19) or “grieve the Holy Spirit” (Ephesians 4:30). Worse if we return to our “vomit“, as in: 2 Peter 2:22

“Of them the proverbs are true: “A dog returns to its vomit,” and, “A sow that is washed returns to her wallowing in the mud.”

Let us therefore be empowered by the Holy Spirit as in:

Galatians 5:16.So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.”

Moreover, bear fruits, as in Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

Remember:

John 15:2He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful

Matthew 7:19Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

Out of his love for us, Jesus died for our reconciliation with the Father. More importantly was to receive the Holy Spirit from the Father to empower us against the “pull of the flesh“. Let us use this creative power wisely.

God bless 😇🙏

Destiny, Random, Allowed, Intervention or Punishment…Sovereignty ?

Destiny, Random Allowed, Intervention or Punishment …Sovereignty?

When anything happens, good or bad, do we ask ourselves, did that happen because of destiny, that our future was already written? Is getting married, having children from DNA of parents, divorce, re-marriage altogether due to destiny without freewill or randomness?

While everything is known to God from even before fetal development as in Jeremiah 1:5 and onwards, are all our day-to-day-activity, education, profession, job, spouse, children etc., already “set for each and everyone of us” ..,or only to some people but not to others, every time or some of the time? Or, did any of it comes randomly, sometimes and specifically? Was it because of God’s intervention? Or, was it allowed to happen by God, or actually a punishment? Which one is it?

Very challenging issues, indeed. Ultimately, only God knows, yet many preachers go one way or the other in interpretations and presumptions. Any middle-ground or another concept? Let us then take this difficult but important issue together with an open mind and with all humility we can muster. Remember, no human has a monopoly on what is right. But, we learn from God using a Berean principle(Acts 17:11) of “trust but verify”.

God’s Sovereignty

It is well-accepted by believers that nothing happens without God’s knowledge. He knows the past, present and future, thus the descriptive name I AM. He is omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent. He is beyond the measure of time. Got it. Moreover, he is sovereign.

But, does sovereignty mean “all steps are ordered”? That, nothing happens “by chance”? That, anything that happens is because God wills it to be or merely “allowed it“. Certainly, when God says, then it happens as in Genesis1:3-31. And, biblical references proved God intervenes in the affairs of man as in the blazing furnace set for Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego (Daniel 3:8-18) and prophesied destiny of earthly kingdoms in Daniel 2. Moreover, who can forget what God did to the northern 10 tribes and 2 southern division of Israel? (See also https://www.chabad.org/library/article_cdo/aid/1551/jewish/Israels-Enslavement.htm And, there are other examples of destiny, intervention and punishment.

Is this really what sovereignty means? Did Adam and Satan sin because God allowed that to happen for a “grand purpose”, as many of us can assume? Where is and what happened to their freewill? Why fault Adam or Satan for their sins without them having freewill? It certainly is not God’s will for anyone to sin against him. That being said, if he just allowed (following the principle of “free will”)what he did not like to happen, although he could intervene, is that being complicit? In which case, God could be blamed?

However, the Scriptures say, he could not be faulted nor can he do anything wrong (Job 34:12) because For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD( Isaiah 55:8). So, how could this comport with God’s sovereignty? In Ecclesiastes 9:11 it says:

I have seen something else under the sun: The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all.

The preceding verse states that the winner of a race, or having food, wealth or favor is not necessarily because of the person’s advantage, nor “destiny, intervention, allowed or as a punishment “. It really “depends on situations”. And, “time and chance happen to them all.” meant it can happen “randomly”. It is no longer “chance” if it is already “written in stone”, as it is no longer hope if the outcome is already known(Romans 8:24).

Even the narrative of Jonah was not forced on him in a way that he did not have free will and could not say no. Instead, he learned “wisdom to choose” from right or wrong. After Jonah’s death in the “belly of big fish 3 days and 3 nights” and resurrection at dry land, 3 days journey to Nineveh”, he had second-thoughts. For who wants to die again in a ghastly death swallowed by a big fish? He could still freely go against God’s will, but he chose wisely, not to and so he traveled far to Nineveh on his own freewill. He learned “wisdom” by having experiential fear as in Proverbs 9:10fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom”.

God does not have to allow, intervene or act as punishment, when anyone gets into an accident, exposed to inordinate risk or got into throes of death. After all, it was said, Hebrews 9:27

“And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment(ESV).

Everyone dies the 1st death which is physical and temporary as everyone will be given a chance at “time appointed” to receive the “Holy Spirit of power”. Judgment comes only after this “empowering spirit in-dwells” to each one of humanity. As 1 Peter 4:17 says, ” judgment begins with God’s household…”

As everyone will experience death(reversible), God already has a plan for any permutations. Randomness is still within the purview of God’s sovereignty. A soldier with freewill to volunteer and fight is a better soldier than when conscripted or forced by events.

Jesus, an example

A supreme example of “freewill within God’s sovereignty ” was shown by Jesus.

As EL SHADDAI, YHVH or LOGOS, he consented to become incarnated to “anthropos-Jesus”(1Timothy 2:5); he was not forced to do that. Being forced and doing it without his consent, takes away the enormity and great value of his sacrifice. As flesh-composed human, he did not sin on his own, as Job likewise did not sin. But what the Father required were not “own works but works expressed in “fruits of the Holy Spirit“. All his personal “purity/perfection” was through his own (like Job) without the in-dwelling of the Holy Spirit.

As promised, he was the first man to receive this in-dwelling after water baptism in river Jordan as in John 1:32. Then and only then did he “express the empowerment that comes from the Holy Spirit”, e.g., overcoming Satan’s temptation, turning water into wine at the wedding in Cana, making blind see, deaf hear, lame walk and dead Lazarus to be resurrected to fleshcomposed life, etc. All of thesemiracles” were “fruits of in-dwelling Holy Spirit of power.

Notice, that no miracles did Jesus do prior to the in-dwelling of the Holy Spirit. The water-to-wine in the wedding at Cana was not the first miracle; it was instead the overcoming of Satan in the wilderness. Notice also that in the garden of Gethsemane, this man-Jesus still with the in-dwelling of the Holy Spirit in him maintained his freewill not to die, but finally (after 3 times seeing truly the flesh is weak and needed the empowerment of the Hoky Spirit) chose instead to follow the “will of the Father” and “not my will. True, these events were known to the Father from the beginning of time. But, this final action of Jesus was solely based on him, his freewill, the “hope” (Jeremiah 17:7), that he in fact would follow the Father’s will. There could not have been any need to “hope” (Romans 8:20; Romans 15:4 ESV) if the outcome is pre-destined or already known. The Father chose not to know do he can base it on “hope“.

Although prophesied and predestined as Passover, Jesus was not forced to be a Savior of mankind. He chose to be so. Still, he had to bring it to fruition himself as empowered by the Holy Spirit. He did this as a freewill expression of his love that flows out from the love of the Father for the world as in John 3:16 True love shows by giving your life for another as in John 15:13.

Learning from DNA

The teaching of who and what is the real you” will help us understand even more aboutrandomness“. Keep in mind the 2 components of man. Creation of man in Genesis teaches us that our material body( all organs including brain) came from the “ground, earthy”, and still “without life, i.e. dead. The life-giving energy was breathed into that body; aka “breath of life” (spirit-of-man) and this combination became a “living person”(soul).

Human DNA is alsomaterial and not spiritual“. While the union of sperm and egg can be random, the union of one strand with another strand to make a double-helix DNA is very specific. Without these double-strands, no human can be made. In human fertilization, a released ovum (a haploid secondary oocyte with replicate chromosome copies) and a haploid sperm cell (male gamete)—combine to form a single 2n diploid cell called the zygote. A zygote (from Greek ζυγωτός zygōtos “joined” or “yoked”, from ζυγοῦν zygoun “to join” or “to yoke”) is a eukaryotic cell formed by a fertilization event between two gametes. The zygote’s genome is a combination of the DNA in each gamete, and contains all of the genetic information necessary to form a new individual.

Similarly, the God-given spiritual strand of DNA in man through the breath of life/spirit-of-man has to be “joined” or”yoked“with anotherspiritual strand” also coming from God as “Holy Spirit” to form a double-helical union in the creation of a “new spiritual body“. The “spirit-of-man/breath-of-life” that gives life to humans has to “join” with another “spirit-component” (both given by God and planned before the foundation of the world based on love) through the concept of “in-dwelling” to become a “new creation”,i.e., 2Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” This change on dynamics takes time with nurturing growth and development.

And this “new creationmanifests at “resurrection, in a “twinkling of an eye

Summary

God is sovereign. He is omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient. His “thoughts are not our thoughts“. We were given freewill but he can also intervene, allow things to happen or punish for a purpose, as well as execute his predetermined overall plan. He can do anything He wanted, even removing and forgetting our sins forever as in Psalms 103:12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

He is so supreme, theGod of gods and Lord of lords”, that he has even the power to include “randomnesswith his own sovereignty, depending on his unique wisdom. Contrary to the common assumption, randomness (like having “hope“) does not diminish his sovereignty; it magnifies it.

But, more importantly he has a plan for all regarding our salvation that will come in the future. All have their own time as all are given a chance, in this lifetime prior to the Millenium and beyond, according to his timeline. And that plan is “predetermined“. However, the final outcome depends on our freewill to act, much like Jesus did, to follow the will of the Father and “bear fruits of the Holy Spirit. Freewill is not ignored, marginalized or delegitimized by God’s sovereignty; it even magnifies it.

The “spirit-of-man” given directly by God and therefore spiritual, has to “join” with another “spirit-entity”(Holy Spirit, also given directly by God) and be “one” through a “process of growth-and-development“, a process of “sanctification. This Holy Spirit is Christ in us, (not another person as previously taught) as in:

John 17:22-26 …’And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.’

2 Corinthians 3:17Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty”

Accordingly, the tree that does not bear fruit will be cut off and burned(Matthew 7:19). So, rejoice for the in-dwelling of the Holy Spirit, the Helper of ourweak flesh“, as our God is supreme, loving, full of grace and is merciful. Our “ultimate destiny within the context of freewill “ is secure.

God Bless😇🙏😊

God’s choice, yet failed…except?

God’s choice, yet failed…except?

Throughout biblical history, many have been called and chosen by God, yet they failed. But why? What message is God telling us from these historical accounts? What predicate was he establishing? Since they failed, was God wrong in choosing them? As God cannot be wrong (Job 34:12) nor can be faulted (Isaiah 55:8-9), why then were they chosen?

Consider the following examples:

1. Adam, chosen in Genesis as the first man created to represent mankind. It was this particular man and not any other human living at that time or before. The Genesis account of man’s creation does not exclude pre-Adamic human creation. While he may not actually be the first human created prior to the Moses’ writing of Genesis,(1,2,3), he was the man on which God established the mechanism of creation and imputation (Romans 5:12) of mankind’s sin. He came from “the ground” and became alive with the “breath of life”(Genesis 2:7). He was also the man, whose sin was imputed to all mankind(Romans 5:12). He was chosen, yet sinned, why?

2. Abraham, like all humans sinned Yet, he was chosen from all men and called “father of the faithful.”

3. Israel, also chosen from all nations before and during that time (Deuteronomy 7:6-9), yet abandoned /divorced God(Jeremiah 3:8).

4. David..also chosen and “after my own heart..,will do everything I want him to do“? as in:

Acts 13:22After removing Saul, he made David their king. God testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.’‘(NIV).

Yet, David as noted in Psalm 51:1 also sinned.

5. Job, who was described in Job 1:8 as “Then the LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.”

“…perfect and an upright man, one that fears God, and eschews evil? (Job 1:8, American KJV)

and won over his friends regarding the reasons for his personal disasters, acknowledged in Job 42:5 My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you.

He was “perfect” as defined by humans but God said “my thoughts are not your thoughts” as in Isaiah 55:8 . Job still needs a Savior to make him perfect as God defined it.

Incarnation

The preceding choices of humans all failed. And, this failure was purposeful. They were all human types of an anti-type to come. The message is about demonstrating the emphasis and focus on a particular prophesied human. (Isaiah 7:14; Isaiah 9:6). The God of Israel, the Almighty God(El Shaddai), the Lord God(YHVH Elohim/I AM), the LOGOS(Word) was planned to be incarnated to a human being, Jesus. This shows that man created from the “ground” and therefore “earthy“, while chosen, was only a “template/image“, an earthly precursor of what was to come. The “true chosen one” had to come “from above/heavenly” and did not carry the imputed sin of Adam to qualify as a Savior of mankind. And, he is the first human, the “anthropos -Jesus”(1 Timothy 2:5), into which the Father will in-dwell his unique Holy Spirit at River Jordan. The Father’s plan has to start with a human being (by incarnation) as a “first of the firstfruits) to become a “captain,author/finisher trailblazer” of our salvation predicated on “faith of Jesus

Summary

Sovereignty of God is a given and while his choice of humans failed, it was purposeful and based on hope. But, this hope is not on “weak flesh“(Matthew 26:4). Instead, this hope was on a specific human that “came from above/heavenly“(John 3:31), the one who would be the “first of the firstfruits” as in;

1 Corinthians 15:23 “But there is an order to this resurrection: Christ was raised as the first of the harvest; then all who belong to Christ will be raised when he comes back.(New Living Translation)

He was the first man to be empowered by the Holy Spirit after water baptism in river Jordan(John 1:32) and the first man to be resurrected to eternal life as a “trailblazer” for humans. This is why the “hope” of mankind is in Jesus as in Jeremiah 17:7

“Blessed is the man that trusts in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.King James 2000 Bible
