Gospel “about” Christ and gospel “of” Jesus, are they similar?

In a way they are, because the “good news/gospel “about” Christ leads one towards understanding the good news/gospel “of” Jesus. However, what one commonly hears from the pulpit is the good news/gospel “about” Christ and the good news/gospel “of” Jesus is basically minimized as to be marginalized. Let us therefore delve into these concepts which are critical for any “Christian believer” to be well-grounded as in: 1Peter 3:15

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness.”

Gospel “about” Christ

This gospel has always been emphasized in churches.

1. That Jesus is our Passover has been confirmed by apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 5:7;

2. that Jesus is our Savior and no one else is ( Acts 4:12)

3. He is the Son of God, witnessed by John the Baptist, to be the one that will baptize with the Holy Spirit as in Matthew 3:11

4. He is the Word of God and is God (John 1:1)

5. He is the Creator-God , that nothing will be made were it now for him (John 1:3)

6. He is Yahweh-Elohim (Lord God) to Moses but to Abraham, Isaac & Jacob, he was known to them as El-Shaddai(God/ Almighty) Exodus 6:3

Gospel “of” Jesus Christ on the other hand, is the “gospel of the kingdom of God”.

Summary;

Both “good news” are inter-connected and both must be emphasized in the pulpit. Unfortunately, emphasis is mainly on topics that distract from the gospel “ about” Jesus and “his” gospel.
